The Birth of a Litter Legend

There are 100 million pieces of litter on Tennessee roadways, and it costs $15 MILLION in Tennessee taxpayer money to clean it up every year.

To inspire state pride and introduce good habits to young Tennesseans, we created Trashsquatch, a statewide litter-prevention mascot for the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Utilizing an innovative “surprise performance” approach in schools, we reached over 3,000 students and more than 130,000 Tennesseans via earned media in our first year.

Soon, it was time to introduce our hero to the outside world. We create a series of animated teaser videos to share on our social pages.

Since Trashsquatch's discovery, he has continued to thrive in the spotlight. You can see what he's up to today at @NobodyTrashesTN.
